Thank you for taking time to learn more and dive deeper into the complex issues surrounding the dairy industry. Hilmar Cheese Company, Inc. was founded by dairy farmers on the principle of paying for high value milk and the philosophy that long-term industry success will come from innovation in the market place.

From our start more than 30 years ago, we have been a very different organization. We were the first to pay the dairy farm families who sell us milk market-based premiums, the first to include a “basket” of commodities in our pay price (including cheese, whey protein, lactose, and butter), and the first to pay farmers a premium for environmental certification and for animal well-being designation. We are proud and appreciative of the dairy farm families who work hard to produce and sell us high quality milk. We want industry reform with policies that encourage market-based growth.
